Your first edition
The four areas of the app, keyboard shortcuts, and how an edition is put together.
The four areas
| Area | Key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Today | 1 |
Your daily edition: the stories that matter to you, with why each is there. Update edition rebuilds it. |
| Explore | 2 |
Search everything stored, discover stories beyond your edition, browse by topic, and ask questions answered only from stored reports. |
| Saved | 3 |
Stories you marked to read later. They sync to your phone. |
| Settings | 4 |
Topics, edition, schedule, AI providers, sources, sync and data. |
Other keys: ? lists every shortcut, / jumps to search, j and k move between stories.
Why a story is in your edition
Every story carries a short, plain reason, for example:
- Reported by 4 independent outlets: several outlets that are not copies of one wire story covered it.
- Matches your top topic: it fits the topic you weighted highest.
- Included to keep your topics balanced: the edition avoids being all one subject.
- Single source: only one outlet reported it, and the story says so.
The edition is ranked by importance, your topic weights, recency and diversity. You can dismiss a story, save it, or rebuild the whole edition at any time. Today always shows when it was last built.
Make it yours
- Topics: turn Geopolitics, AI & Technology, Science & Space, Economics and Good News on or off, and set their weight.
- Edition: size, the balance of positive news, and hiding stories you have already seen.
- Appearance: Light is the default on every system. Dark and System are your choice. Reduce transparency turns frosted glass into solid surfaces.
Written explanations need an AI provider: see AI providers.
