Discover and topics

Stories outside your edition, and a page for each topic. On a story without a summary, Generate & Open writes it and opens it in the reader as soon as it is ready.

A story needs reports from at least two independent outlets to be written. If it is skipped, or the provider fails, the row says why.

Ask a question

Questions are answered only from the reports Fresh News has stored:

1. It retrieves up to a dozen matching reports.
2. It sends your question and those reports (outlet, date, headline, short summary) to the provider you chose. Follow-up questions include the last three turns of the thread.
3. The answer must cite the reports, and it is checked against them like a story.

If the reports are not enough, the answer says so: the reports don’t cover that. Questions and answers are stored on your computer with a snapshot of the evidence used, and you can delete any of them, or all of them, at any time.
